Factfile: how the Mbeki corruption trial unfolded

Ghislaine Maxwell, a former model turned reality TV star and aspiring singer, was on trial in courtrooms across Europe at the same time as she sat in dock in Leamington Spa. Here are some of the most explosive revelations so far.

MELANIE GRANDE

Maxwell and Grande, an American property developer who was once close to Prince Charles, have denied conspiring to pay bribes to judges at a South Africa property company. Maxwell was accused of conspiring to launder money.

MIKE COYLE

Maxwell invited Brody Jenner, half-brother of Kim Kardashian, and American model Ricci Guarnaccio to the villa in the Greek island of Mykonos to make a movie about the tax dispute. Brody was Maxwell’s stepson. But Brody broke the code and leaked the story to French press. Maxwell denied the allegations.

GERARD BUTTON

Maxwell and her associate Peter Spicer face charges of conspiring to corrupt a judge, bribe a magistrate and influence the outcome of a court case. Maxwell had attempted to bribe the former judge Albert Robert with $40,000 to meet a financial advisor. Maxwell also told Spectator Magazine in the US that she had paid a corrupt judge in South Africa, but was not prepared to go into the names of those who were part of the arrangement.

KEVIN YOUNG

Maxwell and her associate Wekesa Bobenana are charged with conspiring to hack, gain access to and steal data from the Bank of England computer system in order to prevent the publication of articles. Young was Maxwell’s former business partner at Gavin Gray and Associates, and accompanied her to court at other hearings in the case.

JAVIER ABDULWAHAD

Maxwell and her associate Patrik Bossekvist are alleged to have tried to bribe a judge on the Bahamas in the case relating to ownership of a boutique hotel. Alabur was given a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty of masterminding a tax fraud operation in which the government paid more than $2bn for unbuilt buildings. Maxwell paid him a retainer, but he later claimed that she had paid him nothing.

JEREMY GROUSH

Maxwell and her associate David Stevenson face allegations of breaking into a secure website server, depriving the government of £150,000. Stevenson is accused of leaking information about the supposed council property deals to the press. Maxwell has offered evidence that Stevenson was having an affair with her sister, but denied the allegations.

JOHN PARKER

Maxwell and her associate Alexandra Wilson are alleged to have illegally copied personal medical information from Russell Tate, the Head of Security at the tax authority, and sent it to the National Crime Agency. They were charged after the organisation leaked documents of the alleged fraud to the press. Wilson pleaded guilty to the offences.
