From what we gather from the trailer below, there are some big changes in store for Season Two of Insecure:
Waz gives Momma an ultimatum.
Melanie’s dad reminds her that she’s “single and broke.”
Erica now works for R. Kelly.
Jen gets close to a potential new fella.
Over in the trailer, Issa tries to take care of any messes that might arise between her and her mother. “Until the war is over, you’re always going to be my mother,” she says. “And when the war’s over, you’re never going to be my mother.”
In the trailer, she’s also trying to mend some past fences, though that’s not going well for the most part. “Now you both know how it feels to need somebody,” she says. “It’s gone, that’s out the window.”
Waz is also in the midst of a nasty divorce, so we can expect to see some of that.
In an interview with Indiewire, actress Yvonne Orji said she was excited about the show’s approach to race relations in the era of President Trump.
“I really think we’re being pushed to the limit with discussion about this right now and I think there is definitely more of an opportunity,” she said. “Issa has learned a lot, a lot more than she realized she’d learn, just from living her life, but also from working on this show. [The show has] come up so much. It’s the biggest statement, I think, that the show has ever made.”
We can’t wait to see how far Season Two will go. Catch it on June 29th on HBO.
