Nathan Fattal identified as victim of fatal Brampton shooting

Nathan Fattal was shot on Wednesday.

Canadian police on Thursday identified the victim of a fatal shooting in a city east of Toronto.

Nathan Fattal, a 23-year-old man from Whitby, was found with multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday evening after police responded to a report of shots fired.

While police were attending the scene, Fattal was found unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. He was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he died.

Police said they believe Fattal was shot in the city’s Brampton area and that they’re investigating if the attack was a targeted crime or the result of a fight.

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, the 15th homicide of the year in Brampton, police said in a statement.

“There are no theories, no arrests, and no known motive at this time,” the statement said.

Police say witnesses spotted a vehicle driven by a white male possibly in his 40s following the attack. The man is described as about 6 feet tall and having a slender build.

“The Brampton Police Service has not yet heard from Nathan’s family or made the family aware of his death and we do not know if they are aware of the events and were asleep at the time,” the statement said.

This is the second fatal shooting in Brampton in the past few days.

Lucky Young Jr., a 20-year-old from Brampton, was pronounced dead after he was shot to death on Sunday.
