The Washington Post has learned that a handful of prominent Democrats have decided to support Senator Bernie Sanders, despite urging from party officials and Democratic leaders.
Sanders is the frontrunner in the race for the Democratic nomination.
Sanders is hoping that his recent string of victories over Hillary Clinton could help the Vermont senator pull out victories in Oregon and Washington State. A majority of voters in California will vote Tuesday, but the rest of the states will be decided by small margins, which makes it hard for any candidate to gain a majority of delegates.
But some Democrats are trying to convince Sanders to drop out. A decision which many party officials and activists believe will be a disaster for the party.
