Teen race car driver shocks everyone with incredible last-place finish in OAME competition

James Pascoe was so disappointed after she came in last at the OAME Youth Off-Road Kart Championship race that she quit racing, according to her father, Chris. But her parents, Chris and Wendy, both off-road enthusiasts, convinced her to try and finish the challenge to prove herself. “They said to look at herself as a racer and think, ‘I need to try to finish this,’” she said.

The teenager completed the drive wearing just a jump suit and goggles, and a helmet was left behind, per Yahoo News. She managed to cover nearly 100 miles of the race course and finished the race in 10th place, setting a new junior record.

“There were about 18 other racers, all professional drivers, all the top dudes in the country,” said Pascoe, who now plans to run for congress in 2020. “I literally just scoured the whole area. There was no petrol station. You basically ran off the street. It was insane. I had a rush from it but I wasn’t cool with it for a long time.”
